FARM

This past weekend (Friday and Saturday) I visited a farm... and it was great, to say the least! I did sooooo many new things, like...

  • Milked cows
  • Petted a NEW BORN (same day) calf
  • Shot a gun
  • Went on a 4-wheeler ride
  • Went deer-shining
  • Played croquet in the dark
  • Played fruit/veggie baseball
  • Got up at 5:30 for chores
  • Saw both the sunrise and sunset on the same day
There was great fellowship as 5-10 Navigators from UWEC fed cows, sloshed through manure, wrangled up calfs, hit old tomatoes into outfield, ate delicious home-cooked meals, garage-saled, and just spent time together. Here's some pictures to show you what all I'm talking about. :)

Overall, it was a beautiful weekend! The weather was great, my face even got sunburnt! I wouldn't say I left the experience wanting to live on a farm, but I definitely learned a lot and appreciate milk so much more! :)

Newest 3D art project and HENNA!

Here's my latest 3D art assignment.... remember the one made with tracing paper and wooden dowels? Same class. So I knitted hemp into long thin strands. I then rolled the strands into balls and gave them little braided tails. The 4 creatures are attacking the momma and baby. The momma is protecting its baby. Cute, huh? :)

And here's some cool henna that my friend did on my foot this weekend.

And a little Jesus fish on my hand! This stuff stays on 10-20 days.

MEXICO!!!

So I decided for the long awaited Mexico update I would do it through pictures. One, because that's more interesting and two, because I'm not feeling like writing a whole ton and a picture says a thousand words, right? :)

These are the daughters of the pastor... Nati(3) and Viki(8). They were lots of fun throughout the week. (And also little stinkers... especially Viki... doesn't her face just look like trouble?)

Me and Nati... she was my favorite. Shhhh.. :)

Mixing cement on the dirt ground... definitely an interesting and back-breaking task! This was to go into all the trenches we dug for foundations for the walls that will be built in the future (similar to the walls you see in the background).

Our sink to wash up for dinner! (And we got sick??!?) Haha. :)

I loved this little girl! Her name was Aletsa (kinda like Alexa) and she followed me around all week. My name in spanish was Natalia so it would always be "Natalia, Natalia! Ayudame!" (Which means help me) She always wanted help crossing the monkey bars. I always told her "Te puedes!" (You can do it!)

All the kiddos painting rocks to remember that God is our Rock.

2 of the 3 girls who stayed in the same host home as me. There were two full sized beds for 4 of us and a bathroom with a shower and a TOILET SEAT! In Mexico they don't usually have toilet seats in public restrooms because people will steal them for their homes... they are seen more as a commodity for the fortunate. So our host family was more fortunate.

The 4 of us with our host mom and dad. Our host dad's name was Samuel and he could speak english from years of working (sometimes illegally) in the US as a mechanic! What a blessing! He is also a great musician and has a CD out of praise music that he composed himself... he gave each of us a CD as a present, but so far mine hasn't worked. :(

Luz Del Mundo- Light of the World. The church where we held VBS and did the work project (in their back yard).

So there's a little of my trip!

New Room Setup

Sorry to those of you who don't necessarily care about seeing my room every time it changes, but my mother has requested to see pictures of the updated layout, and this just happens to be the easiest way to do that!
Here's my desk

This is my roomie's desk

View of the beds and the back of the dressers that are back to back to my desk

Our "living room"... futon facing the two dressers and TV

Futon and bed

View from standing on the futon... Dressers, TV, and on the other side of that is my desk

Confusing without a panoramic view, but it's nice and cozy! I enjoy how we now have a study area and a hang out area... it makes me much less distracted! And I also don't have a view of my food from my desk anymore so I'm sure that will pay off as well! :)

3-D Art Project

Here are pictures of my latest art endeavors. This was for my Foundations 3-D Art class. We worked on this project for 4 weeks... 6 hours of class time a week and then multiple hours outside of class. So I would estimate about 25-30 hours. Woo! We were supposed to explore space and density. It was made using wooden dowels attached with wire then painting pieces of tracing paper with clear acrylic and placing them on the dowels. The paper would dry up and stretch tight like the head of a drum. It was a pretty grueling process and I was very unsure of my work until the very end... I think it turned out quite nicely.

My humble abode

so the other day i was looking back at my old blog posts and saw the one where i gave you a tour of my room. and i figured it's time for another one of those, seeing as how i live in a new place! so here we go...

Here's an overall (if not crooked) view of the majority of the room.

My roommates desk is the one on the right...

And this one is mine! The dresser in this picture is also mine, and I have bottom bunk.

Our beds and my desk.

The getting ready station, TV, fridge, and microwave, as well as my roomie's dresser.

My closet and our beautiful robes hanging on the door.

And this is my amazing roommate, Becky!

The end! Hope you enjoyed!
